STRATEGIC TRIANGLE

Explore More Information: P-CoC's operational structure, inspired by Dr. Mark Moore's Strategic Triangle framework from Harvard Kennedy School, revolves around three main components: the Authorizing Body, Operational Capacity, and Beneficiaries. The Authorizing Body includes the founding president, governing officers, and board participants, who also serve as executive operational directors. This dual role fosters unity and shared responsibility through a comprehensive, hands-on approach. Operational Capacity is supported by Advisory Board and Council Committee members who act as operational directors and committee officers, overseeing daily operations. Ad hoc committees, focused on specific areas, further bolster operational effectiveness. Additionally, patrons and sponsors within the advisory board contribute resources to support programming and professional endeavors. Beneficiaries include children of color, individuals, and communities, all interconnected within Community-Based Social Circles. These circles enable direct impact through localized actions and support. P-CoC aims to empower marginalized voices, drive meaningful change, and promote equity within these diverse communities. The organization believes that effective collaboration is crucial for achieving sustainable and lasting change. Known as the Middle Across Collective Impact Structure, this organizational framework embraces a decentralized approach, fostering collaboration and consensus-building towards actionable solutions.

MANAGERIAL STRUCTURE

Explore More Information: P-CoC Inc.'s leadership is guided by people of color who, through their lived experiences, not only understand their situations but are also empowered to drive change. This approach aligns with Paulo Freire’s Praxis model, which emphasizes a cycle of Reflection and Action. Marginalized individuals lead and guide efforts based on their direct experiences and proactive actions. At the same time, non-persons of color are encouraged to join in solidarity, supporting and amplifying the initiatives led by those affected by the intersections of race, color, and ethnicity. Aligned with P-CoC's established tenets, the Middle-Across Collective Impact Model, instead of the Stakeholder Model, offers a structured and focused approach. It serves as a cornerstone of P-CoC's strategy, fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders around a singular goal without distraction from intersecting interests. This operational model ensures alignment through a shared agenda and progress metrics, resulting in authentic outcomes. In contrast, the Middle-Across Stakeholder Approach may encompass other interests, potentially diluting the collective focus and veering into constraints that could undermine the founding principles. This poses risks for diverse participants, including those from agencies restricted by legal limitations on socio-political activities.

WHO WE ARE

P-CoC Inc. | Parenting Children of Color is a professional society, and its community social circle groups are exclusively dedicated to supporting marginalized individuals at the intersection of race, color, and ethnicity. In the vision of P-CoC Inc. lies a world enriched with a tapestry of ethnicities, where each thread is equally valued and celebrated. At the heart of our work are pillars that guide us in advancing our mission through educational journeys, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to flourish, unimpeded by barriers of race, color, and ethnicity. We celebrate the beauty of diversity expressed through the rich spectrum of our skin tones and the authenticity of our individuality, each shaped by unique ancestral and ethnic heritages. Yet, in our shared humanity, we stand united as one single human race.

While we welcome individuals from all backgrounds to support our work, our focus remains steadfast on issues exclusive to race, color, and ethnicity. In upholding the founding principles of P-CoC Inc., we do not participate in interest convergence initiatives.

WAYS WE DO IT | Academia

Networking and Collaboration Spaces: Through our Student Ambassador Leadership Team (high school) and Young Adult Forerunners Team (college and post-secondary), we provide dynamic spaces for students to share ideas and lead symposiums. Bringing together diverse students locally and nationally, these teams empower students of color to focus on achievements, aspirations, and community impact. They also encourage leadership in initiatives that promote humanness, equity, and unity for community betterment.

Partnerships with Institutions: We partner with schools to support affinity groups on race, color, and ethnicity, offering internships, mentorship, and workshops for real-world empowerment and professional growth. These collaborations help students navigate academics, careers, and cultural identity while promoting equitable coexistence. Resources for career planning, college readiness, and leadership development ensure they are prepared to excel.

Ethnic Awareness Activities: We display ethnic banners and organize awareness activities celebrating ancestral heritage and unique cultures, fostering belonging. These initiatives highlight ethnic diversity, promote cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen community bonds. They also reduce cultural barriers and empower individuals to promote and support equity, harmony, and social cohesion.

WAYS WE DO IT | Community

Unity-Building Events: We host events like the Cultural Exchange Celebration and Juneteenth to foster unity and camaraderie by celebrating diverse cultural heritage. These gatherings provide dialogue, storytelling, and collaboration platforms, encouraging reflection on our shared humanity. Honoring each community's unique contributions strengthens connections, empowers individuals, and inspires collective action for a more equitable future.

Positive Messaging: We display positive messages across the community to promote unity and celebrate race, ethnicity, and skin color intersections. These visuals emphasize equitable coexistence, uplift marginalized communities affected by color-based discrimination, and reinforce the unifying message of one human race. Highlighting the beauty of diverse ethnic-ancestral heritages, they foster a sense of belonging and remind us of our collective responsibility to create spaces where barriers tied to race, skin color, and ethnic othering are dismantled toward a unified society.

Program Development: We provide development workshops and conversation hubs for open dialogue, idea exchange, and empowerment in a supportive space. Focused on equitable coexistence, these discussions draw from personal and collective experiences to explore solution-oriented approaches to societal challenges. Participants—experts and non-experts alike—co-construct insights and strategies, fostering connections and a shared existence rooted in equity, understanding, and unity.
